About the construction of the bath

As a rule, baths for families, saunas are built separately from the house or saunas are built inside the house. Sometimes they are arranged in an annex near the house or in the outbuilding.

Construction of such a structure must be coordinated with the local building authorities, sanitary and epidemiological stations and fire inspections in order to obtain a permit.

It is best to have the bath or sauna on the bank of a river or lake, where there are no draughts. If this is not possible, it is advisable to choose an elevated site so that the polluted water can flow away. But if this isn’t possible either, then you’ll have to make the drainage slanted.

The ground for the bath must be of such a size that it is possible to arrange near a room for inventory and fuel. Pay attention to the location of lighting and water supply in order to avoid a situation where it is impossible or too expensive to bring water up to the place you have chosen.

It should also be taken into account that bathhouses more often cause fires, so it’s better to build them 8-10 meters away from residential buildings. It is desirable to put windows on the west side, as bathhouses are usually used in the evening and the view of the setting sun adds a pleasant feeling and peace.
